within. the community of newtown, connecticut, will begin to try to get back to normal this morning. schools will reopen and most students will go back to class. katie marzullo is live with that. >> reporter: all schools in newtown are opening for the first time since friday's shooting, except sandy hook elementary. state police cezanne did hook will remain a secure crime scene, indefinitely. -- there will be more children funerals today. several wakes are scheduled for today. two 6-year-old boys have already been laid to rest jack pinto and noah posner. we are learning jetblue jumped to help the posner family when know with what's put out a call for help. she wanted to bury handwritten notes from family members with her son but his cousin lives in sale. when others failed, jetblue got the letter on a plane and did it make it there. as for the investigation police are trying to get information out of a computer found at the home of the shooter adam lanza and his mother it was badly damaged but they hope they can recover something that will point to a motive. authorities have told ab

that people nationwide, they are honoring the victims of the mass shooting in connecticut. locally, dozens gathered last night for a vigil in gilroy. organizers at south valley community church say it gave people a chance to get together and share their thoughts. >> having an environment a venue like this i think helps people kind of process it and then being able to give resources that kind of help people continue that journey. >> the names of all the newtown victims were read and a candle was lit for each of them. another vigil is planned at 6:00 tonight at amaral park in pleasanton. >>> well, this morning a more detailed picture is emerging of the gunman who killed more than two dozen people. acquaintances of adam lanza was smart but his mother who was also killed told friends he had a mental disability. cbs 5 reporter cate caugiran is in our newsroom with more. >>> reporter: a man who babysat for the family when adam was 10 said nancy lanza told him to supervise her son at all times and never turn his back on him. lanza reportedly had no close friends in school. the gunman was taking c

, connecticut, i'm randall pinkston. back to you. >>> randall, have investigators learned anything as to how adam lanza gained access to these high powered ammunition? >> reporter: we know that his mother obtained those weapons legally. they were applied for. she had to fill out a lot of paperwork to get them. we don't know whether she kept locked. we don't know whether he had permission to use them whenever he wanted to. we know she took him with her to shooting ranges several times over the course of the past several years. today we learned from investigators that both adam lanza and his mother had made visits to multiple gun ranges. so obviously, he was familiar with weapons with his mother's permission. whether he had access to those firearms, we can't say at this time. >> randall pinkston in newtown, connecticut, thank you. >>> schools throughout the bay area are reviewing their security procedures, following friday's tragedy in connecticut. ann notarangelo is in antioch where they admit there is a limit to what they can do to keep students safe. >> reporter: schools in the bay area hav

was " aloha". >> we will be right back. >> in the wake of the deadly connecticut elementary school shooting, we are hearing more stories of courage and heroism. gene rosen lives near the school in newtown. friday morning, before anyone knew what had happened, he discovered six terrified children in a school bus driver on the front lawn. it rosen invited them into his home. he describes what happened next. >> when the kids stated that they could not go back because their teacher is dead and bay could not go back. i could not accept that. i just kept listening to them and when they talk more one of them stated that it was a big gun and a small gun. they stated that there was blood, and there was blood. i prayed. >> the teacher was 27 year- old vicotoria soto. she reportedly shielded her students in the corner of the room to get away from the gunfire. the kids and somehow got away and were able to get to rosen's home. rosen gave them some jews and some of his grandson's toys to comfort them, then he called their parents. >> we have clear skies outside and it is along the temperatures to drop.
